Let’s talk widow curtains, drapes, window coverings… whatever you want to call them. 🪟 Nine times out of ten, I recommend removing window coverings when staging homes. Especially if they are outdated. 💁🏼‍♀️ “Let’s open the windows up and let the outside in”, is usually what I say. And you know what my clients say back to me? “Ohh I’m going to repurpose them and cover an old chair…” I have news for you… 1. You’re really not going to do that. Hello! You’re moving and already have a lot on your plate. 2. Per my upholstery guy (yes I have a lot of local resources!)… “I do not recommend repurposing old fabric. They are probably cotton. If they were hanging in the window for any length of time the fabric could be weaker. Fabrics dry out over time if subjected to intense heat. Even with the lining. Helping my clients through a major change is one of the best parts about what I do. I recent repeat client needed help designing and installing a new condo for her parents. They had some furniture and accessories (recliners, bedroom furniture and a small kitchen table) they wanted to use but other than that it was a blank pallet. Leave room to grow! When organizing, it's important to leave some open space. If you've done it properly, you've sorted and edited meaning you've rehomed many items and you will most likely bring new items back into your home (intentionally of course).
